food + drink
The kitchen is open throughout the day, providing a simple changing menu to reflect both its seasonal nature + the home-produced + local ingredients that form its core.
We are a licensed premises with a selection of beers on tap. Check our events page for evening opening dates; upcoming suppers clubs; afternoon tea; Saturday brunch + Sunday roast. Booking for these is usually required.
We place emphasis on plant-based + vegetarian options. We will only source meat that is either wild or has been raised humanely + sustainably, with a positive regenerative effect on its environment.
Our baking is all done in-house, with the exception of sourdough bread, which comes from the award-winning Wild Hearth bakery, in Comrie. Organic + foraged ice cream comes from Highland Fold, in nearby Barcaldine. Gilberts Free Range - whose chickens roam the fields below the store - provide the eggs, bacon + pies. The cheese comes from the Ethical Dairy in Kircudbrightshire, where calves remain with their mother.
The majority of our cakes are dairy-free; our brownies are made with gluten-free flour; our shortbread, buckle cake + daily-baked scones are vegan.
the circular way
In a bid to end the practice of single-use items at Sìtheag, we have introduced a returnable cup system.
All take-away hot beverages + soups will be served in Circular & Co. returnable cups (in non-leachable recyclable polypropylene), which will require a £1.00 deposit.
You may:
keep the cup [designed to last over 500 wash cycles]
swap it for a fresh cup when you get your next takeaway
return it + get your £1 deposit back
If you bring your own takeaway cup, you will receive a 25p discount on the list price of your chosen hot beverage.
We are working on a similar system for takeaway food. In the meantime, if you bring your own container, we will give you a 10% discount on that food item.
With the same ethos in mind, we are trying to steer away from disposable napkins + should you need to use one on site, please help yourself from the selection of vintage linen napkins by the bar.
